Program Overview

Phlebotomy technicians play an important role in medical care. By drawing blood samples and preparing them for lab analysis, phlebotomy technicians can help ensure a correct medical condition diagnosis, contribute to research, or screen blood bank donations. You can learn the skills a phlebotomy technician needs to know in as few as two months* with Concorde in Miramar.

Phlebotomy Technician Diploma Curriculum

Concorde’s phlebotomy technician diploma provides foundational medical and health care concepts along with practical skills for taking blood samples.

In this hands-on program, you can learn to:

  • Take patient histories
  • Perform blood draws
  • Log and record samples
  • Follow procedures for controlling infection
  • Understand the health care system

You’ll also develop communication skills for working within medical teams and learn to support patients who may be anxious about having blood samples taken.

These certification tests are optional. If you want to pursue certification, you should familiarize yourself with the requirements for the exams you are interested in taking. Concorde will cover testing fees for one attempt at the AMCA exam for interested graduates.†
If you’re interested in gaining additional knowledge and skills, the credit you earn in the Phlebotomy Technician Diploma can be applied toward our nine-month Medical Assistant Diploma program.
