By drawing blood samples and preparing them for lab analysis, phlebotomy technicians help ensure a correct medical condition diagnosis, contribute to research, or screen blood bank donations. Phlebotomy Technician Diploma Curriculum

Concorde’s phlebotomy technician diploma provides foundational medical and health care concepts along with practical skills for taking blood samples.

In this hands-on program, you’ll have the opportunity to learn to:

  • Take patient histories
  • Perform blood draws
  • Log and record samples
  • Follow procedures for controlling infection
  • Understand the health care system

You’ll also work to develop communication skills for working within medical teams and learn to support patients who may be anxious about having blood samples taken.

***Professional certification is not a requirement for graduation, may not be a requirement for employment nor does it guarantee employment.
†Concorde will pay the examination fee for students who have met the graduation requirements wishing to take the AMCA certification exam. Concorde will not cover second exam attempts or other certification exam fees.

Certification Exams and Next Steps

The knowledge and skills this program teaches can prepare you for a range of third-party certifications*** in phlebotomy, including those from:

  • The American Medical Certification Association© (AMCA)
  • The National Center for Competency Testing© (NCCT)
  • The National Healthcareer Association® (NHA)

These certification tests are optional. If you want to pursue certification, you should familiarize yourself with the requirements for the exams you are interested in taking. Concorde will cover testing fees for one attempt at the AMCA exam for interested graduates.†
